Notre Dame goes for BCS title tonight

INDIANAPOLIS -

Tonight's the big night for Notre Dame football fans. The Fighting Irish face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS Championship game in Miami.

The BCS championship is usually a must-watch for all football fans, and with an Indiana team trying for that crystal trophy, it's even more exciting for local fans.

The Irish are one win away from their first championship since 1988.

Irish fans have seemingly taken over in Miami to help Notre Dame. Most experts think Alabama has the edge as the defending national champs who bring more BCS championship experience to the game.

The Irish and Tide practiced yesterday at Sun Life Stadium for the last time.

A pep rally is scheduled at noon today in Miami for fans to get them geared up for tonight's game.

The Notre Dame Club of Indianapolis will host a viewing party at the Stacked Pickle located at 10th and Indiana Avenue near IUPUI.  Other bars and restaurants will also show the game on ESPN, which projects to draw the largest cable-only TV audience for a college football telecast.
