Manager admits to taking $2.1M from Edinburgh company

EDINBURGH -

The former office manager of a central Indiana company has decided to plead guilty to federal charges that she embezzled $2.1 million from it over a six-year period.

Prosecutors say 57-year-old Gail Greathouse of Elizabethtown illegally wrote checks and transferred money from LB Molds of Edinburgh. Prosecutors say she used the money to pay her credit card bills, a relative's college tuition and other expenses.

The Republic of Columbus reports Greathouse also has been the clerk-treasurer of the 500-person community of Elizabethtown in Bartholomew County since 1993. She's not charged with taking money from the town.

Court records say Greathouse is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25. Her defense attorney didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Friday.
