Madonna: ex-firefighter gets probation

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

A former firefighter with a crush on Madonna has been sentenced.

Robert Linhart has been given three years' probation for resisting arrest outside the singer's New York City apartment building. The sentence comes as a result of Linhart's conviction in November, which followed a pair of arrests in September, 2010.

Linhart was first picked up after he spray-painted love notes on poster boards outside Madonna's former Manhattan apartment. He returned a few days later - and was busted again.

His attorney says it's no crime to adore Madonna - and tells the New York Daily News he plans to appeal his client's conviction.
