INDIANAPOLIS -

A U.S. Airways regional jet carrying 70 people has made an emergency landing in Indianapolis after reporting a problem with its nose gear.

Indianapolis International Airport spokesman Carlo Bertolini says the flight returned after takeoff and safely landed about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday.

He says the Embraer 170 jet was bound for Philadelphia.

Bertolini said he didn't know the status of the flight.
