Northern Indiana's South Shore commuter rail line has suspended service for most of Saturday after a truck lost a load of steel on tracks near Gary.
Indiana State Police say a semi tractor-trailer jack-knifed on Interstate 90 about 5 a.m. Saturday, sending its load of steel coils rolled down an embankment. Those coils snapped electrical lines and damaged the tracks below.
The Times of Munster reports that no South Shore trains were involved in the accident and no one was injured.
Police say roads were icy and it was snowing at the time of the crash.
The Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District says it will update its website - http://www.nictd.com/delays.htm - when service resumes on the line that runs from South Bend to Chicago.
