Police respond to threat at Ivy Tech-Bloomington

Posted: Updated:
BLOOMINGTON -

The Ivy Tech Community College campus in Bloomington was placed on lockdown after man became upset during a meeting with a staff member and made what Chancellor John Whikehart described as a bomb threat.

Whikehart told The Herald-Times that staff used surveillance footage to determine the man left the building. Ivy Tech spokeswoman Amanda Billings said in an email that a text was sent out to alert employees and students the campus was being closed and police were called to investigate.

She said everyone was safely evacuated. She said students are on break for the holiday, but the building remains open for business.

Whikehart says bomb-sniffing dogs were being brought in to search the building.
