FORT WAYNE, Ind. -

An Allegiant Air flight from South Bend to Punta Gorda, Fla., made an emergency landing in Fort Wayne after a cargo fire indicator light came on.

Allegiant Air spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler said the flight landed in Fort Wayne shortly before 1:30 p.m. with 149 passengers and five crew members on board. She says all were safely evacuated from the MD-80 jet and no injuries were immediately reported.

Wheeler says a replacement plane is headed to Fort Wayne from Bellingham, Wash., for passengers who still want to travel to Punta Gorda. She says the plane is expected to depart Fort Wayne about 10 p.m.

Scott Hinderman of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority says firefighters didn't see or smell any smoke, but there is still baggage on board. He says officials don't know what caused the light to come on.

Passengers and families seeking additional information may contact Allegiant at 1-888-393-3535.
