INDIANAPOLIS -
Three people charged in the deadly south side explosion could face the death penalty.
Monserrate Shirley, her boyfriend Mark Leonard, and his brother Bob all face two counts of murder in connection with the November 10th explosion. Prosecutors say the trio rigged Shirley's house to blow up by filling it with natural gas so they could collect an insurance payout.
The blast destroyed the home and five others, killing two next door neighbors.
Court documents say Shirley had been facing financial problems, including $63,000 in credit card debt and bankruptcy proceedings.
A trial for the three suspects is set for March.
The Marion County prosecutor and a review team will decide whether to seek the death penalty before a court hearing in February.
