Madonna's charity helps build ten schools in Malawi

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Madonna is proud to announce school will be in session for more children in Malawi after the new year.

Her Raising Malawi charity teamed up with the nonprofit group buildOn to complete ten schools in Malawi. They were finished six months ahead of schedule. Six of the schools are already open, and the other four will open in January.

Madonna says she's overjoyed that more than 4,800 children will get to go to school, and half of them will be girls who have little opportunity for education.

Two of Madonna's children were adopted from Malawi.
