GREENCASTLE, Ind. -

An Indiana Conservation officer arrested an Indianapolis man Sunday for allegedly hunting rabbits on the grounds of North Putnam High School/Middle School.

Kim A. England, 56, Indianapolis, was arrested by Indiana Conservation Officer Chris Springstun at approximately 11:30 a.m. on charges of possessing a firearm on school property.

Springstun was on patrol near the school when he heard a shot and found a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot.  Following foot tracks in the snow down a school nature trail, Springstun located England, who was carrying several rabbits and a .410 revolver.

England claimed that he was hunting rabbits on property that he thought was open to the public.

England was taken to the Putnam County Jail where he awaits formal arraignment.

England faces additional charges including hunting without consent, hunting without a license, and the illegal taking of rabbits - all Class C misdemeanors - and hunting without hunter orange clothing.
