Falling bricks damage cars near Union Station

INDIANAPOLIS -

Three vehicles were damaged when a brick façade fell on them during Thursday's high winds.

The vehicles were parked in front of the wall on the south side of Union Station on S. Illinois Street at around 4:30 pm.

There was damage to the hoods and windshields of the vehicles after a large portion of bricks came down. No injuries were reported.

Twelve IFD units responded, including the Collapse Response Team.

Battalion Chief Dudley Taylor says IFD cannot estimate the total damage without further investigation inside the building.

The parking lot will be closed until further notice. The Indianapolis Fire Department CRT will stabilize the wall until engineers can evaluate the situation and permanent measures can be taken.
