INDIANAPOLIS -

Governor-elect Mike Pence is asking residents to bring non-perishable food donations with them if they attend of the events surrounding his inauguration.

Pence said Wednesday the donations would be collected for the Midwest Food Bank to feed needy families. He and incoming First Lady Karen Pence spent the morning helping volunteers at the food bank Wednesday.

Pence is hosting a weekend of events leading up to his January 14 inauguration. A family event will be hosted at the Dallara IndyCar Factory and an inaugural ball will be held in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, January 12.

A worship service will be held January 13 at Butler's Clowes Hall. His inauguration occurs the following day outside the Statehouse.
