S. Indiana mayor apologizes over domestic dispute

Posted: Updated:
JEFFERSONVILLE -

A southern Indiana mayor has apologized to his constituents and city employees after police were called to his office over a confrontation between him and his estranged wife.

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore said at a news conference Wednesday that his wife, Victoria, "became argumentative and visibly upset" during the confrontation Tuesday and refused to leave when asked. He says she broke a glass picture frame, cutting herself, but there was no violence. He says he called police.

However, Victoria Moore told police the incident involved "pushing and hitting."

The Courier-Journal reports police made no arrests.

The 48-year-old mayor filed for divorce Oct. 29, saying the marriage is "irretrievably broken." He and his 45-year-old wife married Jan. 23, 1993, and have three teenage children.
