The Town of Fishers voted Monday to commit $8 million to a new interchange on Interstate 69.

The money will be combined with $2 million in local funds from Hamilton County toward the estimated $25 million cost of the new exit at 106th Street.

"The new 106th Street exit will reap dividends in economic development and reduced travel on Town streets with minimal impact to through traffic on I-69," said Fishers Town Council President Scott Faultless.

The town council will issue a bond to finance its portion of the project. Once the funds are received by INDOT, planning and an environmental review for the project will take place. Construction could begin on the interchange in 2015.
