INDIANAPOLIS -

Indiana's 11 members of the Electoral College have formally cast the state's presidential votes for Republican Mitt Romney.

The secretary of state's office says the electors made their votes official during a session at the Indiana Statehouse on Monday, the day Electoral College members were meeting across the country to confirm President Barack Obama's re-election win.

Romney won Indiana handily in November's election, putting Indiana back in the Republican column four years after Obama became the first Democrat to carry the state since 1964.

The 11 electors from Indiana represent the nine congressional districts and two at-large electors. In Indiana, electors are chosen at the state political party conventions.

Federal law requires the nation's electors to gather on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December to cast their votes, which are then sealed and sent to the president of the U.S. Senate.
