Agents visit Conn. gun shops after school massacre

Posted: Updated:
NEWTOWN, CT -

Federal agents plan to fan out to gun stores and shooting ranges across Connecticut seeking clues to the life of the gunman who killed 26 children and adults in an elementary school.

Residents of Newtown are preparing for church services Sunday and a visit by President Barack Obama. He is scheduled to attend an interfaith vigil in the evening.

But as residents seek comfort, investigators continue their work. Among the things they want to know: Why did the gunman's mother keep a cache of high-power weapons in the house? What experience did Lanza have with those guns?

And, above all, what set him on a path to the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School?
