Prosecutors have charged an Indianapolis man with murder for shooting his mother after an argument over taking out the trash.
Police found 54-year-old Paula Day's body at her home on Nolte Street. They say her son Eric Bowman got into a car and drove away.
The 36-year-old Bowman went to the town of Brooklyn in Morgan County, where he turned himself in to police.
A town marshal shot him in the leg when Bowman drew his gun. His wound was not life-threatening.
A pedestrian died after being struck by a sheriff's vehicle around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 5200 block of Madison Avenue on the south side of Indianapolis.
