INDIANAPOLIS -

A family of six made it out of their burning north side house early Wednesday morning, then went to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.  The house, located in the 1200 block of west 36th Street, sustained extensive damage.

IFD spokesperson Bonnie Hensley said the parents, Dominique Clark and Ardis Griffin were taken to Wishard hospital and the children, ages 2, 10, 12 and 15, all went to IU Health-Riley Hospital.  None were in serious condition, Hensley said, but all suffered smoke inhalation and "some them got some pretty bad cuts escaping the fire."

A neighbor called 911 at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday to report the house on fire across the street.

When firefighters arrived, the two-story house was showing "heavy fire," according to Hensley.

Firefighters worked for over a half hour to get the fire under control.

The damage estimate is $75,000.  Fire investigators have not determined a cause at this point.

The family lost two dogs in the fire.
