Colts eager to balance offense with Texans looming

INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indianapolis Colts have gotten a lot of mileage out of Andrew Luck's legs.

Maybe too much.

Shaky protection has forced Luck to scramble a lot this season. Indianapolis (9-4) finds itself likely to make the playoffs, but the Colts probably won't go far unless their offensive line performs better and their ground attack becomes more effective. Indianapolis ranks 22nd in the league in yards rushing per game and Luck has been sacked 32 times behind a struggling, injury-plagued line.

There is hope: The Colts ran for 86 yards in the second half of the win over Tennessee on Sunday and rookie Vick Ballard ran for a season-high 94 yards. The Colts hope for more rushing success Sunday at Houston.
