West side commuters will see construction on Interstate 74 today just outside I-465 to Dandy Trail.
INDOT crews will start installing cable barriers in the median.
The barriers are designed to keep drivers from accidentally crossing the median into oncoming traffic and, hopefully, to prevent accidents.
The construction is expected to take about two weeks.
Today, starting at 6 a.m. westbound traffic will be restricted to one lane.
Then at 9 a.m., the eastbound traffic will be down to one lane.
INDOT is using the staggered times to hopefully help traffic flow.
Indiana Department of Transportation officials are warning drivers to be prepared for delays on Interstate 65 in Southern Indiana as work begins on the Ohio River Bridges Project.
