San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 09, 2012
The Freight Trucking industry in China has been growing strongly at 13.8% per year to about $59.3 billion in 2012, says IBISWorld. There are over 62,500 freight trucking companies in China employing 1.3 million people. The industry provides independent transportation services as well complementary transportation services to other types of transport modes, such as rail, water and air transportation.
The industry's four major players – COSCO Logistics, Shanghai Jiao Yun, Dazhong Transportation, and Guangxi Yuchai Logistics – account for less than 3.0% of industry revenue in 2012. However, market share concentration generally increases with distance. For short-distance or medium-to-long distance transport, the number of enterprises is large, and the scale of each company is relatively small. For long-distance transportation, there are fewer companies, whose volumes and scales are relatively large, with large corporations more capable of providing long-distance transportation services.
China's rail system is overloaded and its transportation growth potential is limited without considerable expansion of the railway network. This, together with the rapid pace of highway system construction, offers opportunities for further development of the Freight Trucking industry in China, says IBISWorld.
