Girl dies, driver arrested after car goes into river

JACKSON COUNTY -

A 17-year-old girl is dead after a car plunged into a river southeast of Seymour.

Brooke Hawn of Seymour was found dead in the car when it was removed Wednesday from the White River near Shieldstown in Jackson County.

Two males, 18 and 19, both of Seymour, were able to escape through broken windows and call 911 after the crash.

Conservation officers arrested Tyler Ross, 18, preliminarily charging him with Reckless Homicide, a class C felony, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Ever Having Received a License,a class C misdemeanor. He was taken to the Jackson County jail.
