A New Hampshire man who bought a 1923 Apperson sedan built in Kokomo and spent several years restoring it has donated the vehicle through his will to a museum in the central Indiana city.
The estate of Stanley Hamel of Seabrook, N.H., has donated the car to the Elwood Haynes Museum, which is named after an early auto pioneer.
Hamel bought the vehicle in the 1950s for $400 and made several trips to the museum over the years. He stipulated in his will that the automobile should be donated to the museum.
Kokomo Parks Superintendent John Martino says the vehicle will showcase a facet of Kokomo's history. Apperson automobiles were made in Kokomo from 1901 to 1926.
