Suspensions sought for 2 Indiana pain doctors

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indiana attorney general's office is seeking the emergency suspension of licenses for two doctors, saying that they've been unsafely prescribing pain medication.

The office wants the state Medical Licensing Board to suspend Dr. William Hedrick of Fort Wayne and Dr. Lea Marlow of Jeffersonville.

Hedrick is founder of the Centers for Pain Relief in Northern Indiana. Officials say numerous patients have died from multiple drug toxicity while in his care and that his prescribing habits aren't medically sound.

Marlow works for the Clark County Wellness Center, where the state says 95 percent of her patients receive Oxycodone at the cash-only practice.

Hedrick didn't immediately reply to a message seeking comment. A call to Marlow's practice ran unanswered.

The Medical Licensing Board is to consider the suspension requests on Thursday.
