Latest stretch of Ronald Reagan Parkway opens

HENDRICKS COUNTY -

A major thoroughfare connecting Avon and Brownsburg has opened to traffic.

It has been 25 years in the making, but a huge portion of the Ronald Reagan Parkway opened in a ceremony Tuesday afternoon.

The parkway will connect I-70 and U.S. 36. The road is currently open from U.S. 36 to CR 100 South (Morris Street) and from CR 200 South to I-70.

A new, four lane bridge goes over the CSX railroad tracks. Before this project, there were very few direct to get from Avon into Plainfield on the way to the interstate or to Indianapolis International Airport. The 25-year-old project will one day connect three major interstates, I-70 to I-74, and then I-65.
