SHELBYVILLE -

Police are investigating a robbery Monday evening at a Shelbyville gas station.

A Shelbyville Police Department spokesman told Eyewitness News that two suspects entered the CountryMark gas station on State Road 44 in an apparent attempt at a strong armed robbery.

Police say the gas station clerk fired a gunshot during the incident. The two suspects then fled.

One of the suspects, 30-year-old Christopher Meisberger of Shelbyville, was found in the parking lot with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to Major Hospital, then flown by Lifeline helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His condition is not known at this time.

Police found the second suspect, 23-year-old David Hobbs of Greensburg, about 45 minutes later in some bushes just blocks from the original scene. He was apparently not injured.

In the preliminary stages of the investigation, a post commander at the state police post at Indianapolis told Eyewitness News that the robbery took place at the KFC in Shelbyville. That information was erroneous.
