Share Your Feast - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

Join WTHR, Kroger, and B105.7 to help feed the hungry in Central Indiana this holiday season. "Share Your Feast" by visiting area Kroger stores and donating money, non-perishable food items, or purchasing pre-bagged food to donate.

To kick off the "Share Your Feast" food drive, Boomer and the Pacemates will make a donation on Saturday, December 1^st, at 9 a.m. at the Kroger store located at 86^th and Township Line Rd in Indianapolis. Also, Kroger will match the first $20,000 in contributions made between Saturday, December 1^st, and Saturday, December 8^th. The Pacers Sports & Entertainment will be the first donors to trigger the Kroger match. Proceeds, for the match, will benefit Gleaners Food Bank. However, "Share Your Feast" also benefits other food pantries, operating separately from Gleaners.

You can join the "Share Your Feast" food drive at any Central Indiana Kroger store through Christmas Eve.

Kroger customers can purchase pre-bag food in $3, $5 and $10 bags. In addition, Kroger customers have the option of donating cash in increments of $1, $3 and $5. There is no limit to either pre-bag or cash contributions. At the end of the food drive, Kroger will total all pre-bag food donated, then Kroger will donate additional food to round up to full case quantities for each food bank and food pantry. Kroger Central Division Public Affairs Manager John Elliott said, "There is no cause more important than feeding our hungry neighbors, especially now as so many families are struggling. Even as we see signs of an improving economy, there are many local families who are hungry. We are hopeful this food drive will exceed the results of 2011's "Share Your Feast" food drive that brought in $392,737 worth of food or more than 300,000 meals across our division, benefiting nine regional food banks and 69 local food pantries. We are hopeful that this extra $20,000 match by Kroger will inspire extra generosity during a difficult holiday season when far too many Hoosier families are hungry."
