Te'o not thinking about Heisman

SOUTH BEND -

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o says he's not thinking much about whether he might win the Heisman Trophy.

Te'o says he's been focused on enjoying his last week of classes before heading next week for various award shows. He'll find out Monday whether he is a Heisman finalist. He says if he does win it would be a victory for all defensive players.

Te'o would become just the second defensive player to win the award, joining Michigan cornerback Charles Woodson, who won in 1997. But Woodson also played wide receiver and returned punts. Te'o would be the first player who played defense only to win the award.

Te'o was speaking at a news conference Thursday where he was presented with the Awards and Recognition Association's Sportsmanship Award.
