INDIANAPOLIS -

Everyone wants the best deal for our money, and now some big chain retailers are making that easier than ever by matching some online prices.

It's not only the big box retailers willing to make a deal. Smaller stores are getting on board too.

If you've never been to Mass Ave. Toys in the 400 block if Massachusetts Ave., you're missing a real treat. It's like Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium - a real toy wonderland! But even this specialty toy shop recognizes the importance of competing with online prices.

Natalie Canull prides herself in personal service and unique items at her store, Mass Ave. Toys. She'll be happy to gift wrap your purchase.

Because competition is so stiff out there, she's learned how to stay on top!

"If I came in here and said, 'Hey, I found this game on Amazon.com for cheaper, would you honor that price on Amazon?'" Eyewitness News asked.

"Absolutely," said Canull. "We want to build a customer base. We want to be their source for toys."

Canull is competing against big box stores like Target. Target would like to be your source for everything, not just toys. While they already offer their low price promise, they're one of a handful of large retailers willing to go even lower if you find it online cheaper.

To make this price match even easier, there's an app for that. It's called Red Laser. All you do is scan the barcode on the item.

Eyewitness News tried it on some Bose speakers which retail at Target for $99. Once we scanned the barcode, we found it even cheaper at Best Buy for $89, which is a store Target says they'll honor. You just take it to management and in most cases, they'll match the lower price.

"I think it will be great for a lot of people trying to be cautious with their money," said one Target shopper.

Those budget-conscious people include Chaney Miller. She's trying to stick to a budget while shopping for a two-year-old celebrating his first real Christmas.

"We've been doing a lot of online shopping with Amazon and stuff, but then eventually you're going to have to pay those shipping costs. I don't want to have to pay those, so it's nice if they sell it here and I could also come in here and get it instead," said Miller.

Back at Mass Ave. Toys, Kathe Ogle is buying a sock monkey for her new grandson. She rests easy knowing this store will match a deal.

"What I just bought was unique. You're not going to find that as easily. But there are other things they carry here that you would find online and absolutely, I think give them an opportunity," she said.

Ogle makes a good point that's it's always better to check first and ask before you walk away empty-handed. Many stores are willing to work with you. While some of your local stores may be able to be a little more flexible, the chains like Best Buy and Target will only honor certain online retailers and for a limited time plus other exclusions may apply.
