Notre Dame grad on space station misses gravity

SOUTH BEND -

U.S. astronaut Kevin Ford says one of the things he misses most about Earth while he serves on the International Space Station is gravity.

Ford told WNDU-TV in South Bend in an interview from the space station on Tuesday that a gravity-free environment is an adjustment because sometimes things go flying. He says a lack of gravity makes things fun, but it also can makes things difficult.

The 52-year-old is from Montpelier, about 85 miles northeast of Indianapolis. He arrived at the station on Oct. 25 and is scheduled to stay until March. The Notre Dame grad says he was able to watch the top-ranked Fighting Irish beat Southern Cal last week and he's hoping he'll get to watch the BCS game in January.
