A man told police he was shot on the Monon Trail Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the man said he was shot on the trail, possibly near the 6400 block, then walked home to the area of East 38th Street and North Central Avenue. He was later taken by a friend to an immediate care facility in Nora before being transported to a hospital. The man suffered two gunshot wounds, neither of which is believed to be life-threatening.
Officers took a person of interest into custody, but have since released that person. Investigators have not located a crime scene and are still searching for the victim's friend's vehicle.
Police say there may have been as much as a four-hour delay between the time of the alleged shooting and the time it was reported Tuesday evening.
Wednesday, police told Eyewitness News they found no evidence of a shooting along the Monon Trail, as reported by the victim. Detectives believe the victim's wounds may be graze wounds and are still investigating the reported incident.
