Family escapes fire in southeast side home

INDIANAPOLIS -

A family of four was able to escape unharmed when their southeast side home caught fire early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the house in the 1100 block of south Kealing at 5:00 a.m. when the family awoke to an electrical smell and found fire in the back of their house.

Firefighters had the fire in the single-story house under control within 30 minutes.

Damage is estimated at $30,000.
