Gifts sought for Richmond hospital's residents

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND -

A state-run psychiatric hospital in eastern Indiana is seeking donated gifts to bring some holiday cheer to the hospital's 200 residents.

Richmond State Hospital's annual Gift Lift program aims to collect enough donated gifts so that each resident can have three packages to open on Christmas Day and a treat-filled gift bag for holiday parties.

The Palladium-Item reports that hospital staff request that all gift items should be submitted unwrapped to allow staff to select appropriate gifts for each patient. The hospital cannot accept glass bottles or glass mirrors for residents. The deadline for donations is Dec. 7.

Donations can be dropped off at the state hospital's switchboard or mailed to Richmond State Hospital's Community Relations, 498 N.W. 18th St., Richmond, IN 47374.
