Cherub signals start of holiday season downtown

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

The Cherub has returned to his spot on the clock outside the Circle Centre Mall at Washington and Meridian Streets.

For more than 60 years, he's appeared each Thanksgiving-eve to watch over shoppers through the holiday season.

The cherub first appeared on the former L.S. Ayres downtown store back in 1947.  The store now bears the Carson's name.
