Indiana death toll rises to six in fungal meningitis outbreak

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

Indiana's death toll is growing in the fungal meningitis outbreak.

The state Department of Health reports that an out-of-state resident died. No other information is available about the victim.

Out-of-state residents who have died are included in Indiana's count if they received an injection in Indiana.

That brings to six the number of people who've died from the outbreak.

So far, 56 people have been sickened in Indiana.

Contaminated injections from the New England Compounding Center have been blamed for the outbreak.
