BLOOMINGTON -

The Republic of Uzbekistan's ambassador to the United States is going to visit Indiana University to check out its extensive educational and research offerings on the central Asian nation.

Ilhom Tuychievich Nematov is due to go to the Bloomington campus Monday. He'll give a public talk that evening at the Indiana Memorial Union. The program also will include photo and video exhibits and dance and music performances.

Nematov also plans to tour the campus and meet with students studying the Uzbek language.

Nematov has been Uzbekistan's ambassador to the United States nearly three years. He previously served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to the Russian Federation and India in 1997-99.
