3 men get prison in failed Ohio bridge bomb plot

AKRON, OHIO -

Northern Ohio's top prosecutor says prison sentences have sent a message in the case of three men who plotted unsuccessfully to bomb a highway bridge in Ohio.

U.S. Attorney Steven Dettelbach says the sentences handed down Tuesday in Akron show that anyone who tries to endanger the community will be held to account.

The device turned out to be a dud provided by a government informant.

The defendants are 27-year-old Douglas Wright of Indianapolis and 21-year-olds Brandon Baxter of Lakewood and Connor Stevens of Berea. They apologized in court.

Wright was the alleged ringleader and got more than 11 years. Baxter was sentenced to nearly 10 and Stevens more than eight years.
