Police in northern Indiana say an SUV passing a horse-drawn buggy slammed into a moped, killing its 20-year-old rider.
Elkhart County police say the crash happened Monday night on a rural road near the town of Millersburg. Police say the SUV crashed head-on with the moped that was traveling the opposite direction in the area about 30 miles southeast of South Bend.
The Elkhart Truth and WSBT-TV report Jeremy Yates of Nappanee was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in the SUV were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
