Deer Creek Vineyards’ Estate Grown, 2010 Pinot Noir, 2011 Chardonnay, 2011 Private Reserve Pinot Noir won, silver medals and one bronze medal at the 2012 American Wine Society Wine Competition, one of the country’s most prestigious and rigorous wine competitions held earlier this month.

Selma, OR (PRWEB) November 20, 2012

The 2012 American Wine Society Wine Competition was held in Portland Oregon this year with three days of judging concluding on November 8th.

Judges are selected from a broad spectrum of wine industry professionals. A significant number of judges for each competition are also chosen from among graduates of the AWS’s own rigorous and well regarded Wine Judge Certification Program. All wines are judged blind and by panel consensus.

“We are thrilled to receive this honor from such a reputable organization as the American Wine Society,” relays managing partner, Katherine Bryan. “This is one of the
Most important wine competitions in the U.S. Considering the rigorous wine judging program that they have, and the number of well established brands that submitted wines, makes this competition formidable.”

Deer Creek Vineyards is established in Selma Oregon, within the Illinois Valley of Southern Oregon. Deer Creek Vineyards has been around since 1988, but the brand was reinvented and vineyard overhauled in 2010 with new ownership. Deer Creek Vineyards is located in one of the prime spots for growing premium Pinot noir grapes within Oregon. Southern Oregon is one of the fastest growing wine regions, with near perfect climates with warm days and cool nights.

The 2010 Pinot Noir is no stranger to winning awards. This is the third medal award for this wine. It also won a silver medal from the 2012 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition and a bronze from the 2012 S.F. Chronicle Wine Competition. The 2011 Chardonnay winner also received a silver medal from the 2012 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. The 2011 Private Reserve Pinot Noir received its first award medal with the American Wine Society.
“Based on the results of this competition, I feel proud to say Deer Creek Vineyards
Produces some of the best Pinot Noir in the Northwest,” Bryan says.

Deer Creek will be having a Thanksgiving Weekend Open House Nov. 23rd-Nov. 25 from 11am-5pm with tastings of the winning wines, new private reserve releases, food and the airing of the Oregon’s Civil War Game Oregon Ducks vs. Oregon State on Sat. Nov. 24th
