The No. 5 Marian University football team will host the No. 6-ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.) in a rematch of an MSFA Mideast League clash from earlier this season.
The Knights (9-1) and Cougars (9-2) both got to the NAIA Football Championship Series quarterfinals with home victories in the first round. The Knights defeated No. 12 Northwestern (Iowa) by a 42-32 score, while the Cougars earned a 22-17 win over Baker (Kan.) in Fort Wayne.
MU has now won three straight opening round contests, while USF has won 11 consecutive first round games.
It will be the first time the two teams have hooked up in post-season play, but will be the seventh time the programs have met in MU history. The Knights have won the last two meetings, including a 45-38 win at St.Vincent Health Field on Oct. 13. The Knights are 2-4 all-time against USF in the team's six-year history.
For the second straight season, the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League is represented by three programs in the NAIA FCS quarterfinals. Last season, the Knights, Cougars and Saint Xavier (Ill.) each earned quarterfinal berths.
The game will kick off at 1 p.m. at St.Vincent Health Field in Indianapolis at 1 p.m.
