EBT outage affects thousands of Indiana residents

INDIANAPOLIS -

Thousands of Indiana residents on food assistance ran into problems when they attempted to use their cards Friday.

JPMorgan reported a five-hour outage on the EBT system Friday.

According to the Family and Social Services Administration, there are about 415,000 unique EBT cardholders in the state of Indiana with active benefits. JPMorgan reported that there were 12,324 unique cardholders in Indiana who attempted to make transactions Friday morning and who were denied.

The system was down between 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. It is currently back up.
