ND's Spond thriving after debilitating migraine

SOUTH BEND -

Notre Dame linebacker Danny Spond has been a key contributor this season, which he still finds remarkable.

The junior from Littleton, Colo., wasn't sure he'd play football again after a debilitating migraine headache left him barely able to move because the left side of his body was numb. After missing the first two games, Spond has started eight games for the third-ranked Fighting Irish (10-0), which ranks eighth in the nation in total defense and first in scoring defense heading into Saturday's game against Wake Forest (5-5).

Spond has 33 tackles, an interception against Brigham Young and three pass breakups.
