Allison Transmission worker strike delayed

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

A possible strike at Allison Transmission has been postponed.

The company and the United Auto Workers now have until noon Wednesday to reach a new labor deal. Some 1,500 workers are affected, and nearly 98 percent voted in favor of striking last month if a new deal was not reached.

The union has been holding contract meetings since early September.

The original deadline for the strike was midnight Wednesday morning.
