Kristy Lee Cook pens song from dad's war poems

NASHVILLE -

Kristy Lee Cook is paying tribute to veterans with her new single, "Airborne Ranger Infantry."

It goes out to one vet in particular: her dad, Larry Cook. She used the poems he wrote while fighting in the Vietnam War as inspiration.

Cook says the poems were framed and hung in her house while she was growing up and she always thought they'd make a good song. Her dad makes a cameo in the music video.
