IMPD imposes voluntary curfew at Richmond Hill

INDIANAPOLIS -

Metropolitan Police are instituting a voluntary curfew for residents living in the Richmond Hill community between beginning at 10:00 p.m. and ending at 6:00 a.m. The curfew will continue until further notice.

With the overnight rain, and because of the on-going concern for the safety of residents and to protect the scene of Saturday night's explosion, residents are asked to be inside by 10:00 p.m.  Several of the structures have been ruled uninhabitable and large debris presents a safety concern in the neighborhood.

IMPD also discourages outside observers from coming to area, not only their own safety, but also for the safety of emergency crews and utility workers.  Police will continue to guard the area and investigate all non-residents who approach.

"We have situation that requires many resources and community cooperation," said IMPD Police Chief Rick Hite in a statement. "We are here to safeguard the community. Please be guided by the directions of officers between the hours 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m."
