INDIANAPOLIS -

A huge explosion on the Indianapolis south side Saturday night killed two, injured several others, flattened two homes and damaged dozens of other homes. The cause has not been determined.

The explosion occurred on Fieldfare Way at around 11:00 pm and surrounding homes on Fieldfare Way and Alcona Drive sustained heavy damage.

All of the victims had homeowner's insurance coverage and there are no major shelter needs at this time.

Many in the community have asked how they can help. The Red Cross is assisting survivors, some of whom may have to rebuild or repair their homes.

Donate to the local Red Cross here.

Southport Presbyterian Church relief fund

You can donate money to the victims of the explosion. Southport Presbyterian Church has set up a website to show how to donate online or volunteer.

Money can also be donated at an BMO Harris bank branch.

Longworth memorial fund

An educational fund has been established to honor the memory of explosion victims Dion and Jennifer Longworth.

Dion Longworth worked at Indy Audio Labs as director of product development and technology. The company says it has worked with the Longworths' relatives to create a fund through the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The money raised will go towards education scholarships and grants, along with community beautification projects.

Memorial donations and checks written to "Dion and Jennifer Longworth Memorial Fund" can be directed to:

Indy Fire Rescue House

The Indy Fire Rescue House leadership and volunteers are working to coordinate relief efforts to assist those displaced or affected by the explosion. IFD and IEMS officials have referred a family to their shelter and they will be placing the family of six Sunday. The family includes a mother, father and four children, two of whom have special needs.

The greatest needs are cash donations at gift cards to Walmart or similar stores. If you'd like to help this group, please consider making a donation. You can also send them gift cads.
