INDIANAPOLIS -

An eight-year-old girl was one of two people shot on the north side of Indianapolis Saturday night.

Officers were called to the 8400 block of Spyglass Drive around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Callers to 911 reported several gunshots, followed by the sound of a screaming child.

When police arrived on the scene, they found an adult male critically injured with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers found an eight-year-old girl suffering from a single gunshot wound in another area of the apartment.

The girl was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in fair condition. The male victim was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition.

Police continued to investigate the scene late Saturday night. They plan to interview the male victim about the shooting after he gets out of surgery at St. Vincent.
