110-year sentence ruled in double slaying

SPENCER -

A man has been sentenced to 110 years in prison for fatally shooting two men in western Indiana during a confrontation over problems with a used car his girlfriend had bought from one of them.

An Owen County judge ordered the sentence Friday against 22-year-old Michael Joyner of Terre Haute for the March 2011 shootings of 24-year-old Brandon Hyde and 54-year-old Randy Bohannon.

The Herald-Times reports Joyner pleaded in September to two counts of murder and other charges in exchange for prosecutors dropping a request for a sentence of life without parole.

Authorities say Joyner's girlfriend agreed to pay Hyde $3,400 for a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville and that Joyner got mad over its engine problems. He confronted Hyde at Bohannon's home in rural Bowling Green and shot them both.
