Wayne Township, Speedway and Indianapolis Firefighters had a tough time fighting a fire at the International Village apartments in Speedway, this morning.

Fire broke out in the 5300 block of Hollister Drive about 2:15am.

When firefighters arrived, they found two apartments on fire and two injured residents lying in the grass.

A group of firefighters had to call a "Mayday" while they were upstairs battling the fire and the stairwell below collapsed.

Firefighters had to rescue their colleagues with ladders.

All the firefighters made it out safely.

One resident was taken to the hospital to be checked out for smoke inhalation, another was treated at the scene.
