Peru High School students and staff were released early Thursday after a student made a threat.

The school described the threat as "non-specific" and "verbal."

The school called in police and the student was removed, and the school says no students were ever in any danger.

Local police, State Police, and Peru Community School Administration handled the joint investigation. A sweep for explosive devices was conducted by officers from the State Police and the explosive detecting dogs from Von Liche Kennels. No dangerous devices were found during this sweep.

Classes will be back in session Friday at the usual time.
